When civil war broke out in Bosnia in 1992, Dr. Christopher Chapman and his wife Judith were on a pilgrimage in the town of Medjugorje. They heard God's call to help and made countless trips to hand-deliver critical medical supplies. With growing interest from generous volunteers, partners and donors, the Chapmans established the Catholic Medical Foundation (CMF) to address medical and refugee needs across the globe. It is our privilege to be the vessel of your kindness.
The Chapmans returned to Bosnia more than two dozen times to bring medical supplies to the devastated region, and they soon found that other like-minded people wanted to get involved, too. The Catholic Medical Foundation (CMF) was established as a nonprofit in 1994 and has continued to grow over time with the contributions and expertise of church institutions, medical professionals, corporate partners and other supporters around the globe.
In July / August of 2021 the CMF traveled to Beirut to assess the needs of the care systems we were beginning to work to support.
